Children's classes are developed to help children build confidence, coordination, musicality and self-expression. We provide technique in the particular genre of dance they choose in a fun, nurturing and structured class. Students are encouraged to try something new and build a strong technique base with each class.
Jazz embodies styles and techniques from ethnic and contemporary dance to ballet. Class will begin with stretching and toning exercises to prepare the body for the technique taught in class. Jazz classes are high energy and a lot of fun! A variety of music styles including Broadway, jazz, pop, and contemporary will be used throughout the class.
Tap is a rhythmic exercise and dance form enjoyable for all ages. It is characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion and offers a variety of styles and techniques.
Hip Hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. It includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking, locking, popping, and tutting. Hip Hop provides a fun way to learn how to dance as you learn to move in many different styles. Style is based on the teacher's choreography and experience. Age-appropriate movement and music is selected for each class.
The foundation for all dance, ballet teaches grace, strength, and technique. Ballet is designed to introduce students to classical dance. Class will begin with barre work and move into center work and across-the-floor technique. Students will learn proper body alignment and will receive a strong technique foundation.
This class will introduce ballet and tap basics and inspire young dancers to express themselves through movement. Focus on form and technique is part of the curriculum along with allowing young children to enjoy dance and self-expression. Class options are for ages 3-4, and 5-6 years old.
